Oh my goodness! This is a belated post, but I figure people (well, our moms, anyway) might still want to know what the first week in the van was like. As of this evening, we’ve officially been on the road for 16 days. I’m writing this post while boondocking at a rest stop in New Mexico. We’ll be arriving in Colorado tomorrow.
I think the craziest part (and, if I’m being honest, the most stressful) has been accepting the spontaneity of all this. This is the first time in my life where I have no idea exactly where I will be in three weeks. I don’t even know what state I will be in. It’s a feeling I’ve never had before and is difficult to describe. I can’t really say it’s “freeing,” but it’s keeping life interesting for sure!
As we talk about in the video, the first week was super planned out, with state parks and Harvest Host reservations. The rest of our trip so far has not been completely like that! We already have a Walmart stay under our belt.
We’ll recap our time in New Mexico soon and keep y’all posted.
